According to the Griffith’s Valuation property survey of 1847-1864 the numbers of Joynt households in Ireland were distributed as follows:
|Town/City||Number Of Families||Town/City||Number Of Families||Town/City||Number Of Families|
|Antrim||2||Dublin City||1||Limerick City||6|
The alternative spelling of Joint was distributed as follows:
|Town/City||Number Of Families||Town/City||Number Of Families|
From the figures shown it is noticeable that the largest numbers of Joynt households were in the Co. Mayo area of Ireland with Limerick/Limerick City coming second. Unfortunately, due to the destruction of the Irish censuses prior to 1901 it is more difficult to pinpoint which families were included in these numbers. However, with the assistance of baptism, marriage, civil registration and various Joynt family records it is possible to place some family groups in particular areas.
Additionally, I will also take this opportunity to expand the distribution of Irish born Joynt families throughout the world.
